🤖Write your website headlines w/ChatGPT! (Take my prompts + headline formulas)

Hey Reader,

I'll be square with you. I am not an early adopter.

Of anything.

For example, Apple released the iPhone in 2007. I didn't own a smartphone, of any kind, until 2012.

I probably had an AOL email account for way longer than was socially acceptable.

And I saw my first episode of The Sopranos a year ago. (People get really worked up about this one for some reason.)

So while it's abundantly clear that I am an elder millennial (I hear dial-up tones in my dreams) I am not going to be that person telling you your business is going to fail because you're wasting time doing things a robot with encyclopedic knowledge but really poor social-emotional skills can do.

You're fine.

I'm fine.

We're all fine.

And while I may not be techno-crazed I am techno-curious.

I'm not in the mood to rethink how my entire day's workflow can be fed through a robot, but I am in the mood to take a shortcut when it comes to one thing:

Writing headlines.

We just kicked off the THIRD Copywriting Cohort Course last week (🎉) and while my students are feverishly sending out their surveys and conducting research interviews, I'm toiling behind-the-scenes trying to prep for our copy sprint weeks.

And ya' wanna know the thing that consistently trips up my students during sprint weeks? How to express one idea, 5-10 different ways.

A.K.A what it takes to figure out a good headline.

Which is why I created the Headline Hero Formula Lab. You get 50 formulas to plug n' play until you find the right hook for your intro, bio, "so what" section, value props, benefits, services and product descriptions and more.

But...

...what if you could give the bot those formulas...

...and it could write a smorgasboard of headlines for you to choose from...

...and it didn't take longer than if you just sat there writing analog-style.

Well, Reader, I figured out how to do this, so you don't have to.

Easily Write Website Headlines And Subheadlines With ChatGPT (+Prompts)

In this post you'll learn:

  • ❓What makes a headline "good" or "bad"?
  • 📈 How good headlines boost your SEO
  • ⛔️ Common mistakes to avoid when writing headlines
  • 💃 How to "seed" ChatGPT with your messaging so it spits out snappy little headlines that won't bore the pants off your readers.
  • 📝 The exact prompts (w/screenshots) + 3️⃣ headline formulas you can use to (re)write compelling headlines AND subheadlines.

^^^What's the difference between a headline and subheadline? I'll explain it all...

Charlie (I named my chat bot) still needs a lot of work, but they're pretty good at reframing my words.

So think of Charlie as your copywriting sidekick who is really good at generating ideas and recalling information, but has intern-who-didn't-study-the-brand-guidelines level writing skills.

Now, while you tool around with these prompts, I'm off to make my second Monday morning espresso as I'm recovering mentally, physically, and spiritually from hosting my now six-year-old's art-themed birthday party. 🎨🖼👩‍🎨

Over and out,

Reading: I can't tell if it's a really long book (e-reader problems) or if I'm just falling asleep every night after five pages, but I'm still reading Rebecca Makkai's I Have Some Questions For You. Regardless, I'm still enjoying it and can't wait to find out how it ends...one day.

Watching: John Mulaney's latest Netflix special, Baby J. His business is none of my business, but if you're going to publicly upend your entire life, creating a wildly funny standup show about it is a good way to usher in a new chapter.

Loving: The movie trailer for All The Light We Cannot See!!!! Was it an intentional choice to create a trailer with no dialogue about a girl with no sight in a 1940s Nazi-occupied French village? Because it's WORKING for me. Chills, I tell you, CHILLS!
